Since 2018 Read To Me has been producing live graphic storytelling events and workshops that take the illustrated story and put it in front of a live audience. An artist-run project, the goal of Read To Me is to create a community space that celebrates and presents the work of local graphic storytellers to a broader audience. Our initiatives include live performances, graphic storytelling workshops and a mini-grant scheme. Read To Me has produced events and workshops for local, national and international audiences and organisations, including the Comic Arts Workshop, the Perth Comics Arts Festival, the Ubud Writers Festival, The Yogyakarta Biennale, Ashfield Library's Comic Conversations, City of Sydney's Late Night Library events, Wollongong Writers Festival, Dulwich Hill P&C, Fairfield City Museum and Gallery, Otherwolds zine fair and the independent Indian media arts festival, Eye Myth. To date we have successfully presented nearly 75 live graphic storytelling events. Each event features 6-8 storytellers, curated to ensure diversity of representation across different genders, cultural backgrounds, visual styles, genres, and forms of storytelling. Our stories cover many genres, from autobiography to science fiction to climate science. The stories' forms vary from four-panel gag strips to live drawing performances. Our events have are broadcast on FBI radio's All The Best and Or It Didn't Happen and our live shows are streamed live and hosted on knox.live
