Koko and Friends Products, Inc. develops animated edutainment programs and products that address the social and emotional issues 21st century youth encounter face-to-face and online. Harnessing the power of storytelling, our products help youth develop the guiding principles and moral compass they need to mature from childhood to adolescence and from adolescence to adulthood.According to the American Psychological Association (2016), "Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among children and adolescents ages 5 to 14, and the 2nd leading cause of death among 15 to 19 year-olds." Boston's Children Hospital (2019) reports that "Nearly one of every eight children between the ages 6 and 12 has suicidal thoughts. The suicide rate is approximately 4 times higher among males than among females, but females attempt suicide 3 times as often as males." The Koko and Friends Project is the result of a mother using storytelling to save her eight-year-old daughter after a suicide attempt due to peer bullying. What began as an effort to help her child survive and thrive in a hostile environment grew into a line of products that address the social and emotional issues children face in school and in other peer settings.
