Working with non-profit organizations, philanthropy, and state and local government for the past 15 years has taught me that data alone does not "do good." Instead, it is the data champions working within these organizations and their human capacity for empathy, kindness, selflessness and compassion that are the source of good. When designed purposefully, thoughtfully, and collaboratively, data and technology can enable people to contribute their very best.With formal training in statistics, data science, survey methodology, leadership, and mindfulness, I am most comfortable living at the intersection of people, process, and data. I thrive when I am facilitating a meeting of stakeholders with different backgrounds and incentives -- helping to identify a common goal and creating clarity of process and role that enables each participant to recognize how their strengths, passions, and energy could contribute to reaching that goal. Not only can I inform decisions with data, but I can also envision the new, unbuilt data assets that could answer future questions. I possess the strategic experience to envision what might need to be built, the technical experience to know what should be built first in order to unlock immediate value, and the operational experience to determine what steps should be taken and what decisions will need to be made in order to bring a vision into reality.
