Kilimo Jijini is a social venture that seeks to revolutionize how we think about food production in urban and peri-urban communities. We work with communities in capacity building on food production, value addition and market access of various crops. We maximize our social impact by collaborating with a rich, well-established network of partners within these communities, who support in identifying and prioritizing beneficiaries.In phase 1 of the urban farming project in Nairobi, Kilimo Jijini received funding from the Mastercard Foundation. With this funding, we rehabilitated 2 greenhouses and set up 1 acre of vertical farms at Olympic High School in Kibera. Thanks to our partners (Mazingira Women and Kibera Town Centre), we trained 200+ women and youth on urban farming, value addition and market access of vegetables and herbs.#SDG1 #SDG2 #SDG11 #SDG17
