Our mission is to use the power of media to support Afghan immigrants in Sacramento by increasing theirknowledge and understanding of the local community and to encourage them to more fully participate insociety. Kabul to Sacramento is also a bridge between the Afghan community and government in order tofacilitate communication and information on local and national levels.BackgroundNaweed Yousufi spent 14 years working with the US Army in Afghanistan. He spent several of those years asan embedded freelance journalist and civil society activist. Like many other Afghans, he came to Sacramentoas a Special Immigrant Visa holder (SIV) in 2017. He soon recognized the need that the large, and stillgrowing, Afghan community in Sacramento had for a source of information and education on how to navigatelife in their new home. In June 2020, he independently launched a pilot program, the Dari language show, Kabulto Sacramento, via Facebook. Since that time, Naweed has posted dozens of episodes, interviews, andupdates with no budget or funding.
