DR KIRSTY MUNRO Mb CHB MRCOG MDI am a consultant gynaecologist based in Edinburgh. My NHS Practice is at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where I am the clinical lead for endometriosis and the lead for risk management. I see patients privately at The Edinburgh Clinic. I also offer telephone or virtual consultations where appropriate. I graduated from Edinburgh University in 2003. The majority of my training in obstetrics and gynaecology was carried out in Edinburgh. My final two years of training were (via competitive entry) in Bristol in a specialist endometriosis centre. I also spent some time working abroad.)Benign GynaecologyI have over 15 years experience working in gynaecology. I am a specialist in endometriosis and have extensive experience of managing this condition. Sports GynaecologyI have a special interest in Sports Gynaecology. I have a strong sporting background having previously competed for Scotland in both cross-country and middle distance running. I still train regularly. I'm interested in the impact of sport on gynaecological function and well-being but also the effect of gynaecological conditions on training and competition. I work closely with the sports physicians in Edinburgh and I'm also part of a UK wide multidisciplinary sports gynaecology network to ensure optimal management of complex cases. I very much involve my patients in the decision making process around management options.
