Many children and adolescents suffer from the consequences of violence, trauma, and severe social and environmental adversities. Consequently, the amount of young people suffering from emotional challenges (e.g. depressive emotions), behavioral problems (e.g. aggression), and anxiety disorders is constantly high worldwide. Additionally, the solutions are not sufficient to minimize the psychological as well as connected physical health problems.Divers organizations try to minimize these problems; most of them with a focus on "combatting" asocial behavior, like aggression, and psychological problems, like depression. In contrast, GutKind promotes, in a targeted way, social and emotional capacities in children and adolescents by fostering prosocial behavior and guarding against asocial behavior. This has an important short- and long-term impact on the support and protection of fairness, equality, solidarity, and peace.GutKind is an international organization founded by the developmental psychologists Isabella Schwyzer and Prof. Dr. Tina Malti in 2019 in Switzerland. In order to create a kind community in which everyone cares about each other, the prosocial, non-profit organization GutKind pursues three core elements:- Youth initiate their own prosocial projects and support others in their attempts.- GutKind suggests potential project areas, in which youth can implement their projects together with other young people. - GutKind initiates scientific research projects to research the basics, development, and support of prosocial behavior in children and adolescents.
