The Petroleum Extension Group (GEPetro) was founded in June 2019, at the Salinópolis Campus of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA). The group works integrating school, college, and industry. The initial purpose was to present the Petroleum Exploration and Production Engineering course to the high school students in Salinópolis, aiming to encourage the increase of citizens not only in the course but also in college. The project started with lectures in high schools in the city, where the course curriculum was discussed, as well as the areas of expertise of an engineer, among other important topics. With the coronavirus pandemic, the group's activities were adapted to this reality, so GEPetro's work was taken to social media through periodic content publications, destined to high school audience, dealing with the different areas of the oil industry. In addition, the group assumes the key role of strengthening the relationship between the course and the professionals working in the Oil and Gas sector.
