Separate from, yet recognized by the City of Fraser, Fraser First is an all-volunteer organization guided by an Executive Board and an active membership base which is comprised of local educators, concerned citizens, families of special-needs children, community leaders, local business owners and childhood development specialists. Founded in January 2010 with the mission of "Building a More Compassionate Community on the Common Grounds of Play," Fraser First Booster Club's goal is to raise funds to build Fraser and Macomb County's first barrier-free playground.This innovative and inclusive play environment will help meet the needs of children with sensory, developmental and physical challenges. Inviting play, encouraging friendships and showing children that their individual uniqueness rests in their talents are the rewards of barrier-free play. When completed, we estimate that annually over 25,000 children and families of all abilities in Fraser and Macomb County will have access to and benefit from the barrier-free playground.
