FAD is an investment in the future. It provides a platform for heightened discussion outside the daily grind of practice, as well as an opportunity to include the public in the debate. It's a vehicle for grass roots discussions that raises awareness and knowledge over time. The aim is to enable architects and designers together with the community and policy shapers to engage in a higher level of conversation about the future of our urban environment. It's important to empower people to have their own voice and to build ownership of decision making through genuine consultation. Real sustainable change is possible when people feel empowered and understand the context within which decisions are made.These conversations will be had by the people that design our homes, schools and our hospitals, the streets we walk and the parks in which we play. The ideas shared in this forum will ultimately find their way into our built environment.
