Mission: To educate and encourage Kentuckians to register as organ, eye and tissue donors to save lives.Vision: To live in a world where no one waits for a lifesaving transplant. Our 501c3 nonprofit organization was created by the Kentucky Association of Circuit Court Clerks in 1992 after a Circuit Clerk lost a loved one waiting for a transplant. The Circuit Clerks knew that no one should lose a father, or child, or best friend waiting for a transplant. At the time, the Circuit Clerks issued driver's license, so with the Kentucky General Assembly's legislative support, they provided every person obtaining a Kentucky license or ID an opportunity to donate a dollar to promote an organ & tissue donation program.Since then, more than $20 million has been raised and reinvested in Kentucky to provide public education and outreach about this lifesaving mission. More than 2.4 Kentuckians have registered as organ, eye and tissue donors while obtaining a license or ID. Still the number of people waiting outpaces the number of organs available for transplant, and sadly, 17 people die every day waiting. Everyone can register as an organ donor - there are no age or health limits - simply go to www.registerme.org. Our organization supports public education, patient & family assistance programs, and community outreach thanks to generous philanthropic contributions from individuals, businesses, and foundations. In 2023, we updated our Board Structure and name to the Donate Life Kentucky Trust (formerly KY Circuit Court Clerks' Trust for Life) to better reflect our focus and outreach to the community today.
