The Cape Town Design Nerds, founded in 2022, are an affiliate of the Vancouver Design Nerds and thus share in their mission. However, this organization is aimed at engaging Higher Education Institutions using design models that challenge their normative structures. We wish to create spaces for students to engage beyond the classroom through design methods such as the Design Jam, curated by the Vancouver Design Nerds. We are active in Academia, green building, public art, graphic design, photography, policy, sustainability, theater, renewable energy, fashion, dance, film, community development, etc. The Cape Town Design Nerds provide the space and facilities for interdisciplinary design collaboration and dialogue between Higher Education institutions and Community based organizations.
