In providing a warm, welcoming environment, BCSS aims to reduce the initial fear or distress that an individual may experience, when looking to seek help or speak to someone. BCSS is staffed by suicide prevention peer workers, who have their own lived experience of crisis, aiming to connect with others through the mutual understanding that comes with meaningful shared experience. Whilst BCSS aims to cover a gap in traditional services, in being accessible between 5pm & 9pm on Friday and Saturday night, BCSS relies on it's strong community roots and connections to support individuals to be referred to additional services as they may require. Including clinical, government, non-government, and community service providers, either in person locally, online, or via phone, in a way that would benefit the individual most.
